I love Sundays. Always have. Years ago, we'd go to Church
first, where Dad sang in the choir. Eventually, he directed
it. Dad had a magnificient voice. His "Old Man River" was
breath-stealing, but that's for another time.
After church, we went out to the country, to Grandma's
house for dinner and in her pantry she always had a cake,
or pie, something tasty and special for dessert. Dinner
was fried chicken. Not any old chicken, but Grandma's
fried chicken, with potatoes and gravy, veggies, home grown
of course, and fresh butter, made from the cream of her cows.
Ah! Memories.
I still love Sundays. Early to church, time to reflect,
to remember, to thank the Lord for what we have, ask for
what we need. Then a relaxing, do-nothing day. A day to
refresh the spirit, prepared for another week.
Yep! I love Sundays.
