About The Cats

What is it about cats? They sleep where they want, wonder around as if
the place belongs to them, eat constantly, and yes, the vet says to leave
the food bowls in place and full 24/7. You want companionship and
they can't be found, you don't want companionship and they insist.

We have three beauties. One is marmalade, one tuxedo, and one
 a silver point Siamese and tiger mix, but color doesn't seem to
mean a thing. Nor does age, nor does the place of the origin. The
oldest lived with my daughter before we inherited him. Wally, the
tuxedo was raised by us. We got him when he was only seven weeks
old, and the Siamese was at the vets for almost three years, with a
bunch of other cats. But all three fit the same patterns.

One of these days I'll figure out why when I'm at my desk, or my
computer, they have to be there too. Makes concentrating on my story
a bit difficult.

And printer... Well that's for another time.

The end of the month

Tomorrow is April Fools Day. I'll have to research that
and find out how it started. It's been around for a long
time which suggests there might be a historical reason
for it. Ah ha! A plot idea. We'll have to see.

In the meantime, I just finished the Contemporary I
was working on. Wrote the end at twelve o'clock last night.
It's always a great feeling to write 'the end'. Now off
to my first reader - editor for analysis and questions.
I'm sure there will be a few.

While he reads, I get to start on the last song book.
I have some nasty plans for Arvel. Just wait and see.

Weddings

Nope, not mine. Not one of my children, thank the lord.
But a granddaughter. This one spent a lot of time with
us and she's a sweetheart. I'm delighted to be able to
be present at her wedding, but truth be told, I'm not
fond of weddings.

I can't explain it, maybe because they do things so much
differently now than when I was got married. Back then
a wedding was a big, big deal. And you planned for
months and months before the big day. Everyone in your
family and his family were sent invitations, even if
some of the members didn't speak to each other.

There were books on how to plan a wedding, who pays
for what, what gifts were appropriate, what your
invitations should say and on and on. Today it seems
much more relaxed. In my day it was a very formal
day.

I suspose there are a few of those kind of weddings
going on today, but most of the ones I've heard about
have a party like feel to them.

Have I given away my age, or am I just getting old?

Internet Frustration

I can not believe it, but my internet has been kicking up
big time. We switched to ATT and nothing but trouble this evening.

One of these days I'll become a geek - I hope.

In the meantime I'm working on two books, a contemporary and a
medieval romance.

I had trouble with both original plots; I'm a plotter and it just
didn't work. But, as usual, while I was trying to go to sleep
the trouble solved itself. My contemporary heroine was involved
in the wrong profession.

Same trouble with the medieval. My hero was in the wrong
situation. Now he is where he should be, (grinning!) and my
heroine now is what she should be.

I can hardly wait to get back to the books.

Ideas, ideas, ideas

It fascinates me and probably always will, but ideas for stories
come from the most interesting places. A trip to the grocery,
a comment from a doctor, an article in a magazine.

I've started another book, this one a contemporary, about a
woman who is hurt and suffers a brain injury. I never heard
of Post-Traumatic Amnesia, but a comment by a doctor started
the ball rolling on this one.

After I finish the edits to Windsong, I'll go back to my poor
woman, who can't remember incidents that happened two years
before the accident. Hummmmm I wonder when or if she'll ever
remember. I'll just have to wait and see. That's part of the
fun of writing. You have a general idea, and it grows and grows
until your have the plot, or at least a partial plot. Then, as
the story developes, your characters will help the plot along.
